Friday, Day 6 Portiragnes to Marseillan We drive to the Oulibo – the local olive oil pressoir. Join us for a truly unique way to discover the best wines of the Languedoc. Return to the barge for a gourmet lunch on board (perhaps including the famous duck confit stew, cassoulet) and an afternoon's cruise to La Croisade, with plenty of opportunity to walk or bicycle along the towpath. Active family members might even be keen to do a bit of horse-back riding at the local riding centre rather than cruising on this particular afternoon? The onboard guide will then show you the magic and history that surround the scenic hilltop town of Minerve. Following the spectacle of Athos climbing the Fonserannes there is time for painting before dinner on board. Athos begins moving through the famous round lock at Agde and heads towards Beziers. Linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi runs through beautiful hills in the shadows of the Pyrenees. This section of canal offers spectacular views of the Pyrenees across the sunny, clear plain. Although shipping is costly, it can be arranged from here for those who are interested. The evening’s mooring will be in the country, just outside the small village of Portiragnes.

Tuesday, Day 3 Portiragnes to Fonserannes The Etang hosts Europe’s largest Mussel and Oyster Park and Picpoul de Pinet will be available to accompany the seafood specialities according to the local pairing. Returning to the barge for cocktails and relaxation on deck, the hostess asks if you would prefer to dine al fresco this evening to take advantage of the scenery.
