Not one of life’s greatest problems, but still Turns out, there’s a super easy way to make a Boomerang for Instagram Stories using your Live Photos in your iOS photo … Now if you add a Live Photo to your Instagram story, the platform imports it as a still image instead. You can post this photo to your Instagram story as usual. FEATURES * Take mini videos of your life and yourself using the front and back facing camera. There is a workaround, though: converting the Live Photo into a Boomerang. Live photo might seem like a glorified term for video, but this type of media has one foot in the photo camp and one foot in the video camp. Uploading a Live Photo from your iPhone to Instagram will only make it appear like a still image. Well, apart from clicking the shutter button, of course. The same, however, isn’t possible anymore. Tap it once and Boomerang does the rest: shoots a burst of 10 photos and turns them into a delightful mini video. The only limitation at present time is that Live Photos can only be used in your stories (not in your main Instagram feed), although this may change in the future. The word “Boomerang” will be displayed for a second and now you have a Live Photo with a boomerang-effect.
But then, I either have to go shoot a Boomerang in Instagram (and figure out what to shoot) or open the Boomerang app itself. You can post the Live Photo as normal on Instagram but it will only appear as a still image, and that sort of defeats the point of it being a Live Photo in the first place. Share it on Facebook and Instagram right from the app, or save your video to your camera roll to share later.
Instagram not turning Live Photos into Boomerangs anymore. In fact, they are 12-megapixel photos that animate 1.5 seconds of motion either side of the still without you having to do a single thing.
Earlier, one could easily share a Live Photo on Instagram stories by holding it down to change it to a boomerang. There’s just one button. Unfortunately it is impossible to post Live Photos to the main feed at the moment. Instagram has added the option to upload Live Photos shot on iPhone and turn them into Boomerangs, all this from within the app itself.
